Short Term Working Student Programs

We often get inquiries from students who would like to stay in residence at Hearthstone Farm and work with their horses or ours under instruction for periods shorter than our minimum of three months which we require to participate in our International Working Student Program.  Shorter programs are available, with your own horse or with our horses.

One Week or Less

Stays of a week or less are available at our usual short term horse board and lesson rates, listed on our website at www.dressagehorse.com.  If the working student apartment is available, it may be used for $35 per night, single, or $40 per night, double.  Short term students are not expected to be involved in any stable management or horse training activities.  If a short term student wishes to reduce the price of their stay by exchanging work, special arrangements must be made with Jayne Ayers.

One Week to One Month

In exchange for helping with stable management three hours per day, five days per week, no fee is required for the use of the apartment.  Lessons and horse board are billed at normal rates.

One Month, but Less than Three Months

Students work with the horses five full days a week in exchange for use of the apartment and four lessons per week.  The other amenities associated with the regular International Working Student Program are also included, except for tuition for college horse management classes and the expense allowance.

Board for Working Student Horses

If a working student chooses to bring his or her own horse, a discounted board charge is available for horses at the farm for a minimum of 3 months.  Board is payable in advance each month.  The discount comes into effect after the first two months of board, and applies only to board paid on time.  Students wishing to bring their own horses should inquire about the current board discount.
